Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places orderly and to store pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck could be utilized. The reach truck comes in quite a few types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the correct storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular model has telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not only slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This version is ideal in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Normally more than one kind of reach truck is needed in warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and could increase production while maximizing available storage space.
